Kia Launches Niro and Optima

Kia Niro

The all new Kia Niro crossover hybrid goes on sale on 24th October with prices starting form €30,595 for the EXL model. The Niro comes with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 32kWh electric motor that delivers a healthy combined output of 141hp and 265Nm of torque. It has low emissions of 88g/km and an average fuel consumption of 3.8-litres per 100km.

The Niro is easy to drive, with an dual-clutch automatic gearbox, there is no manual gearbox available, Unlike some other hybrids, which some people find confusing and intimidating, with their various options e.g. Sport mode or Eco Drive, the Niro’s driver has no input or control over how the hybrid system delivers its power to the front wheels.

The styling of the Niro makes it look like a blend of a SUV crossover and an estate car. The interior features include; black leather seating as standard, heated steering wheel and front seats, dual-air con and more. It’s technology features include: a 7 inch navigation system with Kia’s Connected services, wireless phone charger, reversing camera, autonomous emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, smart cruise control and lane keeping assistance. From February there will be an optional ADAS safety pack available which brings the car up from a 4 to a 5 star Euro NCAP rating.

Kia Optima

From the outside the new Optima is charismatic with muscular contours. It features a ‘tiger nose’ grille and has sharp body lines and an elongated silhouette. The interior is modern, spacious and features high-quality materials. It has a driver-orientated cock pit making it easy to keep your eyes on the road, just a quick glance at the enhanced dashboard delivers all the information you need. And they’ve redesigned the seats for your maximum comfort.

Connectivity features of the Optima include: Kia Connected Services, wireless charging and Quantum Logic Surround. Driver Assistance Technologies include: adaptive headlights, automatic cruise control and lane keeping assistance system.

Engine options are a 1.7 CRDi diesel engine with 141hp or a 2.0 CVVL petrol engine with 163hp. Both engines offer optimum balance of performance and efficiency allowing you to enjoy driving with lower carbon emissions.
