You’re bound to have heard by now that the all-new Ford Mustang is available on the Irish market, so we are looking at its key features and seeing just what the hype is all about.

First you have two models to choose from, the unmistakable look of the Fastback, or the streamlined profile of a Convertible, both available in 10 colours. Then you need to select your level of power, a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine or 5.0-litre V8 engine.

The Fastback embodies the spirit of a Mustang in an ultra-modern form. The Fastback’s long bonnet flows downwards to reduce drag, helping the car to cut through the air with ease. The distinctive headlamp and rear light designs as well as other signature features, leave you in no doubt as to the car’s identity.

The Convertible is perfectly proportioned from every angle, a flowing beltline wraps around the cabin opening to define it. An entirely new folding mechanism enables the roof to fold away in seconds, deep into the body to maintain the car’s streamline appearance and aerodynamics.

 

The exterior commands a powerful presence complete with the instantly recognisable Pony or GT badge as well as the forward -leaning ‘shark-bite’ grille, sculpted bonnet at front, unique tri-bar tail lamps and twin exhausts at the rear. The car’s muscular yet sensual body shape is accentuated by design features that improve aerodynamics and down-force, maximising performance and efficiency.

The interior is cocooned in comfort, surrounded by space and technology. The layout is inspired by a jet fighter cockpit, the cabin is comfortable, well-equipped and invigorating interior space. Completed with aluminium panels, leather seating and surrounds and metallic detailing.

 

Key Features

• Four different driving modes to suit driving conditions and your needs. They are: Normal, Sports Plus, Track and Snow/Wet. Each setting adjusts throttle response, gearshift points (on automatic transmission), steering effort and stability control calibration.
• Stiffened body structure to help reduce roll in corners. A carefully tuned double ball-joint front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension builds on this to deliver precision wheel control, sensible steering feedback and outstanding ride comfort.
• A 390-watt Shaker Pro Audio System features a DAB+ Radio and single CD/MP3  layer. There are 12 speakers including an 8-inch subwoofer mounted in the boot, combine to provide crystal-clear sound.

• Ford SYNC 2 with voice control and 8-inch coloured touchscreen. Control your phone, audio, climate control and optional navigation via voice control or touch. SYNC 2 comes with Emergency Assistance which places an emergency call and can provide emergency services with information about your vehicles location, you can choose to stop the call or talk to the services if needed. The system will supply vital information, including your GPS co-ordinates, even if you are unconscious.
• Effortless Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to provide easier, lighter steering when parking in a tight spot and firmer steering for more control on motorways. It only operates when required, helping to improve fuel economy.
• Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

• Ford KeyFree System, lets you lock and unlock your car, without having to take your key out of your pocket or bag.
• Ford MyKey lets you set the max speed limit, a seatbelt reminder and even the volume of the audio system. You programme the restrictions you want for that key, and have peace of mind when lending your car to someone, you keep the unrestricted ‘admin’ key yourself.
• Ford Easy-Fuel means that you can’t fill your Mustang with the wrong fuel because the wrong nozzle won’t fit.
• Rear View Camera with virtual guidelines to help you park. Activates automatically when you select reverse and comes with optional parking sensors.

• Dual-Zone Climate Control lets you set the ideal temperature for both sides of the cabin.
• Specially created, high performance braking system incorporates four-piston brake calipers and ventilated discs.
• Advanced Traction Control System, eliminates excessive wheelspin and gives you the best possible grip, performance and stability, just when you need it most.
• Automatic windscreen wipers and automatic headlights.
• ISOFIX child seat mountings.
